Communication

Between Sessions

Therapy happens primarily during our scheduled sessions, but there may be times when you need to reach out between appointments. You are welcome to contact me with questions about scheduling, appointments, or other practical matters.

For clinical matters, I generally encourage us to bring things into our next session where we can give them the time and attention they deserve. Email, voicemail, and other messages are not monitored continuously, and I cannot guarantee an immediate response.

If you call my direct number (647-250-7258)‬, please expect to leave a voicemail. I generally return calls about once a week, usually on Saturdays and occasionally on weekday evenings. For booking and administrative matters, you can also contact Acutoronto’s office administrator, Lori, or use the booking system.

If something feels urgent or you are concerned about your immediate safety, please do not wait for a response from me. Use one of the emergency and crisis resources below.

Virtual Therapy

At this time, I provide psychotherapy virtually through the Jane App. Sessions take place by video rather than in person. Virtual therapy does not change the standards of care or confidentiality that apply to psychotherapy. It does, however, mean that there are some practical differences from being in the same room together, so there are a few things we need to keep in mind together:

  • Please join sessions from a place where you have reasonable privacy and where you feel comfortable speaking openly.

  • Please ensure it is safe for you to talk (i.e., we cannot do a session while you are driving).

  • If you are not joining from the home address you listed on file, please let me know. This allows me to respond appropriately if an emergency arises.

  • I will conduct sessions from a private and professional setting.

  • We will use the secure technology provided through the booking/clinic system for our sessions.

  • Technology is not completely risk-free, so I take reasonable steps to protect the privacy and security of our communication.

If We Lose Connection

Technology occasionally has a mind of its own. If our video connection drops during a session, I will make reasonable attempts to reconnect. If I do not succeed, I will try to call you at the phone number on your client profile with us. If I cannot reach you and there is reason to believe that you may be in immediate danger, I may need to take appropriate steps to ensure your safety, which can include contacting emergency services.
